• Adult & Senior Programs


The Friedman JCC is home to a very active, vibrant senior community. The JCC offers a wide range of programs to engage and enlighten our adult community and keep them physically active.


Classes are held to encourage socialization, discussion about current events, and exploration of new and old hobbies and current events programs. The JCC also offers and interesting lecture series on various topics. And of course, the JCC is dedicated to the health and well-being of our seniors with excursive classes, nutrition counseling, and health oriented workshops.

Congregate Meals Program

Serving 60 years of age and older, this program is funded by the Area Office On Aging. Kosher, balanced meals are served five times a week at the Center. Meals are prepared on site, necessitating reservations being made several days in advanced. There is no charge; however, donations of $2.00 per meal are accepted. Participants are encouraged to stay for cards or board games following the meal. Call the front desk at 570-824-4646 for reservations. Our latest offerings are here.


Men's Club

The JCC Men's Club provides an organization that offers a chance to socialize, meet new friends, and take part in discussion groups. In addition, we have interesting speakers. Join us on Tuesdays at 11:00. Remember to make your lunch reservations 24 hours in advance. Join the Conversation
WHO: Most of our members are retired and many are active volunteers who like to share their interests and hobbies.
WHAT: Many of our meetings include discussions and speakers in which we talk on a variety of topics such as:
* Immigration
* New tax laws
* Israel
* Education
* Local economic development
* Health issues
Guest speakers are on alternate weeks. Any questions speak to Harvey Rappaport., President



Return to the roots and language of our ancestors at an informal Yiddish class filled with a little laughter, singing, and kibbitzing. Individuals may also join a Yiddish Tish prior to Congregate Meals, The program is led by Eli Fleisher.


JCC Institute of Learning

Meets 10 consecutive weeks, Jan to April on various topics from religion, current events, top speakers from the Wilkes-Barre area, artists, and more.  Watch for more information.

Rummikub, mah jongg, cards are always available before and after lunch.


Ufberg & Winkler Concert Series

Included in this series are the Al and Leah Ufberg Memorial Concert, endowed by their children, Margie and Murray Ufberg, and the Ethel and Williams Winkler Concert endowed by the late Dr. Harry Lyons and his wife, Irene and the late Herbert Winkler and his wife, Barbara. JCC Book Club

Through both fiction and non-fiction, you'll explore some of today's best new books and meet other book lovers at the JCC. Don't miss some of the most stimulating and breezy conversations at the JCC.  Book Club meets every 6 weeks.  Call Barbara for the current book and date.
